Background

Project performance monitoring and evaluation process are complex and critical to a project life cycle. It ensures that developmental policies are properly translated into actionable and achievable programmes  that help projects meet the set policy goals to the public. It is therefore mandatory that people who are involved in public policy development, programmes implementation and project monitoring understand this key aspect of project development process so as to have a firm control through sequence of monitoring processes.

Objectives

  • To increase participants understanding of the concepts used in designing M&E frameworks and Plans
  • To understand what monitoring and evaluation are and their purpose in successful project management.
  • To have knowledge of variety of monitoring tools and  their uses.
  • To gain insight into different forms of evaluation
  • To build participants competence in designing programmes.
  • To help delegates appreciate  the importance of cost analysis in project planning.

Course Administration
The workshop will feature lectures, discussions, studies and syndicate group presentation by specialist lecturers including serving officers who are knowledgeable in current issues related to project conception, design, development and management.

Certification: Certificate is awarded to successful participants on completion of the course.

This workshop addresses the training needs of officers in Research and Statistics, Project management, Monitoring and evaluation, Planning, Project Engineering and staff involved in policy formulation, management and supervision.

The programme includes work-group discussions and practical report development  exercises on possible project scenarios for analyzing performance.

Expected Results

  • At the end of the sessions participants will understand the under pining factors in M&E frameworks and how they affect every day project success.
  • Participants will be able to identify and select appropriate indicators for a program to measure performance and realistic projection.
  • Participants will be able to produce sequence of programmes for monitoring and evaluation.
